From Suffering to Triumph: The Story Behind Jos Harmony and Inspiration Mission Foundation

A Childhood Marked by Loss and Pain

My name is Nanyombi Josephine, and my life has been shaped by hardship most would find unimaginable. I lost my mother when I was just six months old. My father abandoned me, and I grew up without the love and protection every child deserves.

My maternal grandmother stepped in and raised me with deep love until I turned three. But fate intervened again. My father had me taken away and placed under the care of a stepmother who treated me as less than human. From the age of four, I was forced to do hard domestic labor—treated more like a servant than a child.

I endured humiliations and physical abuse. I remember one day vividly—my stepmother poured urine over me. I washed my school uniform in a borehole, sobbing, but never allowing that pain to extinguish my spirit.

Surviving Against All Odds

There were times when I was forced to sleep on the streets and scavenge through garbage for food. I lived in tattered clothes, carried heavy loads far beyond my age, and worked endlessly washing clothes for a pittance. One of my most traumatic memories is being locked in a small space with animals—forced to eat and sleep beside them.

I was once burned with a hot iron box. That pain left more than a scar on my skin—it left a mark on my soul. But even in that darkness, I clung to hope.

Whenever I could, I attended school. I borrowed textbooks, listened intently to teachers, and found purpose in learning. Those small victories became beacons of light in my bleakest days.

Becoming a Mother to Many

At 16, I began taking care of three children on my own. Later, I left Uganda to work as a housemaid in Saudi Arabia—determined to give those children a better future. The work was grueling, the loneliness unbearable, and the judgment from others harsh. I was called names, even accused of being a scammer. But I pressed on.

I used my hard-earned salary to support children back home. And as my ability to help grew, so did my vision.

Founding Jos Harmony and Inspiration Mission Foundation

I realized I wasn’t the only one suffering. There were countless other children in need—orphans, abandoned, abused—just like I had been. I decided to turn my pain into purpose.

This is how Jos Harmony and Inspiration Mission Foundation was born.

Today, through this foundation, I care for over 300 orphaned and vulnerable children. We provide them with food, shelter, education, medical care, and—most importantly—love. We also teach life skills and core values to prepare them for independent and meaningful lives.

A Ripple of Hope

When I look into the eyes of these children, I see myself. I see the same strength, the same longing to be seen, heard, and loved. And I know that the cycle of pain can end—through compassion, care, and shared responsibility.

I may be young, but my heart is filled with the love of a mother for hundreds. My past has shaped me, but it does not define me. My triumph is not just mine—it’s theirs too.
